The Bayfield Lions and Bayfield Historical Society have joined forces to embark on a remarkable fundraising project that aims to celebrate the rich history of Tom Penhale's Horse-Drawn Landau in Bayfield.

The vision is to create a permanent exhibition space in the heart of the village, showcasing an original Tom Penhale Landau within a meticulously reproduced Bayfield two-cow barn.

This exciting initiative, known as The Penhale Carriage Barn Raiser, invites the community to come together in preserving a significant part of Bayfield's heritage.

To kick-start this momentous endeavor, the Bayfield Lions and Bayfield Historical Society are delighted to invite everyone to the Wine and Cheese Launch party at the Bayfield Town Hall on Wednesday, May 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. sponsored by the Bayfield Lions. (Cash Bar).

This event promises an evening of historical appreciation, with the carriage on display, distinguished local dignitaries in attendance, and even a member of the Penhale family present. It is an occasion not to be missed.

Tom Penhale's Legacy

Tom Penhale, a native of Huron County, developed his remarkable skills while growing up on a farm. With a passion for building and repairing equipment, he ultimately gained worldwide recognition for his exquisite horse-drawn carriages. Penhale's craftsmanship graced notable clients, including Disney, the Rose Bowl Parade Grand Marshal, Weston Foods, and Wells Fargo. Over two decades, from the 1970s to the 1990s, Penhale crafted some of the most awe-inspiring horse-drawn carriages in existence. The Penhale Carriage Barn Raiser serves as a fitting tribute to honor his memory and his outstanding contributions to his craft.
